NBA 2K16 Kicks: Just Don x Air Jordan 2 Beach!
By Juan Martinez - Jan 28, 2016
Welcome back to the first edition of NBA 2K16 Kicks in the new year, our (almost) weekly attempt to bring the hottest sneaker releases into the game. This week we try to get the upcoming Just Don x Air Jordan 2 Beach onto the feet of a player that we know would rock such a pair, Monta Ellis. PJ Tucker has already worn them in an NBA game, so trying to replicate that just wouldn’t be as fun since you can just look at the real pictures. Besides, Monta’s Pacers uniforms matches up nicely with the kicks, especially with the Hickory High alternates.
One thing that I hope to see in NBA 2K17 is an option in the Shoe Editor that allows us to choose between “leather” and “remastered leather” as an inside joke for sneakerheads. But another option that would be nice is “quilted leather” since that’s the most eye-catching part of the Don C collab at first glance. Without the quilted finish, the shoe looks bland and doesn’t stand out from any other Air Jordan 2 that we would be able to make in the game.
As for the rest of the shoe, the suede hits on the overlay and the tongue give the shoe some flavor beyond the all-tan everything look and the Air Jordan badge translates nicely to the game. Unfortunately, when you edit the color of the badge it also affects the stitching on the upper so you get a contrast that you obviously don’t see on the real shoe. Sticklers for detail will also notice that the red shank gets a little bit more real estate on the shoe’s sole compared to the actual pair. Hopefully that is something that will be corrected in future games and that we will be able to play around with even more minute details of the shoe without necessarily affecting other parts.
