Nike Will Be Expanding Their Beaverton Headquarters By 3.2 Million Square Feet!
By Andres Carrillo - Jan 20, 2016
Nike has new plans to take over the world. We’re just kidding. Well maybe not. What Nike does have plans to do is expand their Beaverton headquarters by 2018.
The new 3.2 million square feet expansion will add office space, mixed-use and parking facilities to campus. A trio of Northwest-based firms: ZGF Architects, SRG Partnership and Skylab Architecture will guide design, while Place Studio, of Portland, will provide landscape architecture services. The inspiration for the architecture comes from human movement, speed and the strength and energy of competition, all central to Nike’s core mission.
Here’s what President and CEO of Nike Mark Parker had to say about the expansion.
"EVERY DAY AT NIKE WE DREAM UP NEW WAYS TO INSPIRE ATHLETES TO EXPAND THEIR POTENTIAL,” SAYS MARK PARKER, PRESIDENT AND CEO, NIKE, INC. “TO DO THAT, WE RELENTLESSLY EVOLVE HOW WE INSPIRE OUR OWN TEAMS AND DESIGN ENVIRONMENTS THAT FOSTER CHEMISTRY AND COLLABORATION. OUR EXPANDING WORLD HEADQUARTERS REFLECTS THE BEST OF NIKE’S CULTURE — A PLACE WHERE WE OBSESS THE ATHLETE AND INVENT FUTURE PRODUCTS AND EXPERIENCES FOR CONSUMERS EVERYWHERE."
